Les Houches thematic school on: structure and dynamics of complex networks
The field of complex network has reached a mature stage, with many concepts, tools and methods widely used by many research groups.
The school aims at giving a solid fundamental background to Master and PhD students and young researchers working with or on complex networks, by introducing the main concepts and tools that are useful in this field. The school will introduce the concepts and tools of graph theory, statistical physics, statistical analysis, modeling, and visualization used in the field of complex networks.
The lectures will start from the introduction of concepts of graph theory and of how to statistically characterize and model the structure of large-scale networks. The course will also address exploratory data analysis, data mining and visualization of network data.Several lectures will deal with dynamical processes on complex networks: epidemic spreading, cooperation phenomena, synchronization phenomena. Several lectures will discuss applications to diverse fields such as Biology, Web Science, Epidemiology, Economy,…The most recent developments in the field, such as the study of temporal networks and of interdependent networks, will finally be presented.
